Deacon Candidate Nominations
Deacons play a vital role in the life of our church, which is why we take the nomination process seriously. In accordance with the New Testament, deacons are called to be servants of the Church. Their ministry is to serve alongside the Senior Pastor, carrying out God’s work by caring for church members and meeting needs within both the church and the community.
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience… They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.—1 Timothy 3:8-10
The New Testament is clear about the character God calls deacons to embody. In Acts 6:3, the early church was instructed to select men who were "known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom"—men whose lives already bore witness to servant-hearted faithfulness. This standard has not changed.
Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.—1 Timothy 3:13
A word about nominations:
This is not a popularity contest. We are not asking who is well-known, well-liked, or prominent in the congregation. We are asking you to prayerfully identify men whose lives already reflect the servant leadership described in Scripture—men who quietly love and care for others, who demonstrate integrity in their homes and in the church, and who embody the spirit of Christ who came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). These are people you have observed serving, not simply people you admire from a distance.
In accordance with the church bylaws, a list of all eligible men in the church—those age 21 and older who have been members for at least six months—is available at the link below. Please review the list and submit your nominations using the form below by Sunday, May 17
